THe Stay

Location

Location: Middle of nowhere Montana, the dream!

Upon arriving at Missoula airport, you'll be met by the Rock Creek team and escorted to your luxury SUV for your scenic journey to the ranch. Once you've checked in, there is no reason to leave. The closest town of Philipsburg is a 30 minute drive away with a population of 1,894.

Some ask if you're walking distance to anything special, why yes, yes you are. The ranch is incredibly intimate, with the furthest walk being under 10 minutes. You're within a few minutes walk to the Granite Spa, The Silver Dollar Saloon, which is home to a four-lane bowling alley and fully stocked bar, and the Rod & Gun Club, also known as the adventure hub of the ranch.

Our Favorite ROoms

With four different styles of accommodation, each room is completely different from one another. Between the one of a kind nine rooms in the Granite Lodge, the Historic Barn Suites, the Luxury Canvas Cabins lining the bank of Rock Creek and the seven Luxury Homes, our favorite room, pending occasion of course, would have to be The Loft. The Loft is one of the Historic Barn Suites which has rafter ceilings and an elegant freestanding bath tub - and the most comfortable bed you will ever experience!

SOMETHING SPECIAL

Almost immediately upon arriving at the Ranch I noticed their commitment to sustainability. They've focused on reducing their footprint by partnering with the local farmers and ranchers to design seasonal menus, eliminating single use plastics by providing guests with a reusable canteen and reduction of vehicles through carpooling amongst the staff and encouraging guests to walk or bike around property.

Recommended For

Couples and families. I can't think of a better place to get the whole family together, particularly a family of all ages, there is something for everyone.

Don’t Forget to bring

I have a great story for this! While my hair isn't a priority when at a dude ranch, it's important that I keep it controlled for everyone's benefit. My first evening, I realized that I had forgotten my flat iron. Ok laugh all you want but ladies, you get me. I rang up the front desk to ask if the salon had a spare that I could borrow. As always, the answer was yes.

Off to dinner I went and while I was out, they sent one of their staff members to Philipsburg - remember 30 minutes away with a population of 1,894 - to retrieve me what I was missing. I returned from dinner that evening with a new flat iron place next to my sink.

Long story short, the Rock Creek team will either have what you forgot or find a way to get it to you.

Eat & Drink

Hotel restaurant

The beauty of the ranch is that they operate on a fully inclusive basis. This means all gourmet meals and alcoholic beverages are included.

For breakfast, you have several options. You can sip on coffee, tea and pastries next to the fire in the Great Room at the Granite Lodge followed by a full breakfast serving fresh farm eggs and blueberry pancakes.

If you prefer to go for a morning walk with a coffee in hand, you can mosey down to the Blue Canteen, located in Camp Roosevelt. The Blue Canteen is the ranch's 'on site' coffee shop style venue where you can find an assortment of pastries, granola, fresh juices, tea and coffee to fuel up for your day of adventures. During the summer months, the ranch hosts a Cowboy Breakfast which begins with a wagon or horseback ride from the stables to Piney Pond for a campfire breakfast that includes more hearty items such as biscuits and gravy and cowboy coffee cooked over the fire.

Lunch is more simple, served daily until 3pm in the Granite Lodge or at the Buckle Barn for a cook-out style to refuel between activities.

Every evening at 5:00pm, there is a social hour in the Great Room where guests can mingle around the fire enjoying craft cocktails, local beers and canapés that are curated around that evening's dinner menu. It's a very intimate experience and a wonderful way to connect with other guests sharing exchanging stories from the day.

Following social hour, guests go their separate ways for a curated dinner, whether that be a 'Rodeo Barbeque' on the Buckle Barn Lawn in the summer months or a 'Montana Craft Beer Dinner' in the winter.

After dinner, the Silver Dollar Saloon opens its doors as the evening entertainment hub at the ranch. What happens at The Silver Dollar Saloon stays at The Silver Dollar Saloon!

Time to Play

Our Must-dos nearby

One of the best things about the Ranch of Rock Creek (and there are a lot of great things) is the range of all-inclusive activities included in the rates. All activities are guided and available daily from 9am until 5pm.

For no extra charge, you can take a horseback ride, hitch up a stagecoach for a drive through the property, take casting lessons with a guide and go fly fishing, challenge yourself on the ropes course, or mountain bike the surrounding trails. In winter, there is snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice skating and hockey, and cross-country skiing. Those who prefer indoor activities can bowl at the ranch’s bowling lanes, try their hand at karaoke, or catch a flick at the movie theatre.
